I noticed something last week, an acquaintance became part of my virtual friend zone.
What Am I talking about?
So lets imagine, one second, you met someone through a temporary job, or at some show, or any occasions that makes that you don’t see this person two times without being intentionally.
You added eachothers on facebook and thought that maybe you could meet up some day.
At first you chat a little bit, even plan some hypothetical meetup that of course fail, cause you’re both too busy taken in two different worlds. You thought living in the same city would be enough but of course it’s not.
And time pass by, and all of sudden this hypotetical friend is stuck on your virtual life. Why’s that?
2 absurd social convention:
–You can contact this person ONLY once or twice then the person has to call you back, otherwise you can’t contact them a third time. It will be obnoxious. I agree that sucks, though everyone is playing by it.
– Delay after the encounter: I would say after 1 month, you can’t really contact them especially if you’re from opposite sex : or both gay, cause then the message change it’s no more a hang out situation but probably more a hook up. We know it can’t be a date, if he/she was really interested he/she would have showed up sooner.
Post facebook era, you would have probably won’t ever had a chance to contact this person, but now everything changed. I don’t know if it’s bad or good thing that you have some kind of connexion with someone you won’t see or chat with, but only connect through like and share post on a network.
But this is what it is, sometime your best friend on facebook might be someone you barely talk in real life.
